Tethered or Untethered EV Chargers

With an estimated 80% of electric vehicle charging taking place at home, it’s important to make sure you choose the right charger for you and your vehicle. The main difference between tethered and untethered EV chargers is the charging cable.

Tethered (TYPE 2)

Most electric car owners choose to buy tethered chargers, and they’re the most common type of home EV charger that you’ll see. A tethered home charger for an EV has a cable attached for you to plug into the car.
Tethered EV chargers are convenient as you simply uncoil the attached cable and plug it into your vehicle.

Untethered (Universal)

Untethered charge points also known as socketed, are universal allowing for use of your own cables.Great when you have a requirement for type 2 and type 1 charging, or if you simply prefer the neater look to the install with out coiled cable.
